ATOM EGOYAN

Atom Egoyan is one of the key figures in a newly emerging style of cinema, nourished by the aesthetic innovations of video and the plastic arts. His fictions: Next to KinFamily ViewingSpeaking PartsThe AdjusterCalendarExotica combine video and cinema to explore the question of individual identity and the perverse role of images in the technological age.

A Canadian from Toronto, born in Cairo to Armenian parents, he was awarded the Prix Spécial du Jury at Cannes in 1987 for his second film Family Viewing and achieved international success with Exotica in 1994 and with The Sweet Hereafter adapted from a novel from Russell Bank in 1997.
